Well, Christmas has come and gone, New Years was 361 days ago and I'm sitting down for a good old blog.

Christmas, as always was great. Family Christmas on Sunday, before friend and vague acquaintances on Tuesday. Good way to get to know people, I spose.

So what have I been doing of late? Reading, trying to get a decent sound out of my sax, playing board games, hit the cricket nets for the first time in a while yesterday and I booked a trip to Adelaide for the S&M Nugteren wedding in Adelaide in fab Feb.

I also noticed that it was 44degC in Perth yesterday. Ahhh, the memories. Haven't had that in a while. It was snowing on Christmas eve here in Tassie. And it's been generally cold the last couple of days.

But the Bureau promises warmth... for Friday... the day I leave. But I leave for Flinders Island, so hopefully it all corresponds to warmth up there too.

I've heard the fish, cray and ab (fish rather than abdominals) are nothing short of amazing, so I intend to find out for myself.

Graduation spells the end of Mocember

Graduation is today. Which is kinda cool. So, I'm thinking I'm going to have to erase my mocember effort - it lacks the required definition and will probably just look blurry on photos, which is not a good look.

In other news, I think I'm getting fitter... having suffered the ignonimity of running behind dad a few weeks ago cos I was so dead, I've managed to overtake him quite comfortably now. So that's good.

And I got tix to the cricket, which is not something I planned, but should be a bit of fun, nonetheless.

Been starting to hit the dive trails. Been twice in the last week. Some definite early season form, only snaring one fish each time. (The second time I actually got two fish, and got them both into my catch bag, but alas, when I came to shore, there was only one fish in my bag. I guess he'll live to fight another day...)

Anyway, I've heard rumours that Christmas is coming to town.

Perth and related shenanigans...

Well, I'm in Perth. Perth is great. I love Perth. Anyway, let's not get too teary now.

I'm in Perth for the wedding of my best friend from primary school, and he and his family have shown me overwhelming hospitality, for which I am eternally grateful.

Last weekend, we went up to Lancelin, 1h north of Perth where we engaged in minimalistic bucks party shenanigans. We filled several hundred water balloons and covered them with tomato and bbq sauce, before heading out to the sand dunes for an epic water fight. The team who ended up with both the thongs won. My team lost our thong early in the piece after a dominant run by our opposition, that tore apart our lines of defence. But there were still unpunctured water bombs, so the fight continued. A diversionary flanking resulted in one member making it to the opposition base, allowing him to lay hands on the prized footwear. Just before being splatted, he was able to unload his cargo into a bush, before returning to base, as specified by our rules of engagement. The flanking operation also was forced to return to base, having been saturated by bomb contents. The ensuing meeting of our team determined that we should repeat the previous manoeuver. This resulted in the successful collection of the cargo and return to base. The rest of the war was played out without the sacred footwear changing hands.

Anyway, the wedding is on Saturday, rehearsal is this evening, I leave just before midnight on Sunday and I catch up with family for Sunday lunch. I visited a whole bunch of family friends yesterday - none of whom recognised me at first! I also visited my old primary school, which has grown into quite an expansive campus - it is k-12, so it is quite significant. My visit coincided with the last day of school, so I was able to see some more family friends, and ran into the parents of one of my best mates from primary school.

Today, I rang a guy up from Rio Tinto, and sent off an application there. It will be interesting to see how that goes. There is some serious thought that has to go into what happens to me in the next few years. Anyway, pray for me if you would.

And the touch footy team had another good win on Wednesday night without me. So things are on the improve there. Next week we play the top team, so that'll be a really good challenge - we're second on the ladder at the moment.

As far as marks went - I get to graduate with upper second class honours on the 18th, so I'm quite proud of that, despite the fact that I was quite disappointed with my exam marks. They liked my thesis, and that was the thing that counted the most, so that's pretty cool.

Anyway, time to be sociable, so I'll hop off the computer now!
