Pfft
Have you ever noticed that you're running up a gruelling hill, the most horrific grimace plastered across your face and you run past someone, just out walking the dog or taking their kid for a walk in the stroller. And they're always frowning. But as soon as they see you, all of a sudden they brighten up and pull out this massive grin.
Taking pleasure in other people's pain... it all seems a bit harsh really.

nah, i've never noticed myself running up a gruelling hill.
I can't remember the last time I did that either? But I know the feeling of smiling at someone running past you. I'm not sure what it is exactly.
It might be a "Hey, someone running. You're pretty dedicated - great job mate" smile.
Or more of a knowing "Yeah, pretty tough isn't it. (Weirdo...) Oh well, whatever floats your boat mate" smile.
"Hey. You tool. Why are you inflicting yourself with such pain. Idiot."
I can't believe that so few people have subjected themselves to hill reps...
...Actually, it makes perfect sense.
Maybe it's just a smile of general amusement, cos people look funny when they're grimacing in pain?
YOU GOT A JOB????? TELL!
