The "Official Complaint" has finally come to an end, more or less.
The final thing that was negotiated was compulsory SETL (Student Evaluation of Teaching and Learning) surveys for teaching. The university takes them pretty seriously. It will be an important step in creating some element of accountability.
So that's good news.

Good to see some sort of result. Was your main area of concern addressed?
Don't mean to burst your bubble by any means, but does the uni take SETL forms seriously? I've always wondered. Doubt the psych department will do anything about the education psych lecturer, even though there is no way he would have recieved any good SETL forms!
Good on you for standing up to the uni when things are wrong :)
Michael: My main areas of concern have been identified, and the Head of School, I think, shares my views, but in a more diplomatic fashion (which is a necessity considering he still has to work with people). There were some other "quick fix" sorts of things there too, that got sorted (in theory).
Erica: yes, funding is based on completing SETLs and the results of them. We had one lecturer on academic probation after he got slammed by SETLs. If there are really substandard lecturers, and the SETLs are poor, something probably is being done: it's worth asking questions about it.
Thanks for the info bout the SETL forms. Glad they do actually achieve somethings :)
Or "something" even?!
I can't believe it's over. What will you rant about now???
Don't worry Phil, there are always pink ties!!!
